We visited for a family reunion during lunch time. The food was generally good. The standout dish in my opinion was the clay pot noodle with fish slices. Happy to return for that dish alone. Parking in Taman Desa can be a bit of a pain though, even if you're willing to pay.

Was there on a weekday for lunch. There was no crowd. Overall food is good, restaurant is clean and service is fast. Portion was big, for 10 pax. Loved the garoupa with mango, cooked 2 ways. Not sure about pricing as a friend foot the bill.

Unique style of cooking Fish! These days most of us have so many group chats on WhatsApp that it kind of distract us from our work or daily activities. And I believe that like me, most of us would actually silent the chat notifications saving for those important ones, right? One of the group that I didn't put into silent mode is my regular makan & minum kakis, a small group that love their food & drinks. One of them mentioned about this restaurant serving delicious food in Taman Desa and proceed to organise a dinner + whisky here - but I couldn't join due to my prior arrangement. But when he said the food was good, I took notice and plotted my family dinner here one weekend evening. I called up to reserve a table as I didn't want to be turned away after driving all the way to Taman Desa. Sure enough, the restaurant was packed with hungry diners when I arrive. ◾2-way grouper fish - if every restaurant has a gimmick dish, then they have done this fish justice. Half of the fish was steamed and covered with a concoction of sliced mango cubes, garlic, chilly and soy sauce that work surprisingly well together; while the other half was deep fried and covered with the special mango sauce. Presentation-wise the dish won the night. ◾deep fried pork ribs with Guinness stout - my quick thinking that the kids might not appreciate the fish turned out to be true. I ordered this dish instead and they liked it. ◾deep fried pork belly with chef's special sauce - deep fried and crispy pork belly smothered with a combination of sweet & savoury sauce plus a bit of peppery. Interesting... In a good way, of course. ◾stir fried potato leaves with garlic - customary vegetable for the dinner. ◾I felt like drinking wine hence popping a Barossa Valley Shiraz. It does not look good at all from the outside and the signboard isn't lit at night. But the strong crowd is a testament of the popularity of this restaurant.

This tai chow stall in Taman Desa has several specialties like their Vietnamese style spicy pork dish that is crispy and really fires up the mouth. Apart from that their sambal brinjals are great too as is their steamed fish. You can usually find a seat easily and the dishes come in three sizes, small medium or large. Also their claypot tofu is a good bet. If you don't want to order rice and dishes there are individual fried rice and fried noodles like Singaporean Bihun that you can order in whatever size you want. However the specialties here are still seafood based. I've also seen customers bringing in their own fish/seafood and the kitchen prepares it for them.
